The senior accountant applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare and document business transactions and record as appropriate. Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheets, income statements, and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position.
No direct reports, but continuously collaborates with accounting
team members as well as senior business leaders
Required Education / Certifications
Primary Responsibilities & Scope
Prepare and evaluate accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and adherence to US GAAP requirements
Prepare, maintain and analyze acquisition and loan documents, including key terms that have financial effects
Maintain loan amortization and tax schedules for multiple investment properties
Complete monthly billing and collections activities for lendees and tenants
Perform month-end close activities for individual investments, as well as investments that roll into other entities, including journal entry preparation and account reconciliations
Analyze business trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses
Create and analyze metrics and scorecards for profitability on various investments
Manage cash flows of multiple entities
Identify, implement and support improvements to gain efficiencies and effectiveness of accounting practices
Liaise with external auditors, tax preparers, and investors to communicate information in a timely and clear manner
Passion for working in high paced environment with exposure to operational business leaders
Embrace use of computer technology to support business processes
Keep up-to-date on knowledge in field as it relates to business
Other related duties as assigned
At least three (3) years of experience in accounting/finance
Knowledgeable of US GAAP and accounting principles
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Proficient in QuickBooks
Strong organizational skills
Ability to identify opportunities for cost savings/profit enhancement and efficiency improvements
Strong initiative and ability to analyze, question and summarize data for decision making
Excellent verbal and written skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Corporate and personal tax experience is a plus
