Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Position:

  • Assist with mechanical repairs on commercial (class 6, 7 & 8) trucks and trailers to include dry vans/lift gates and tankers
  • Assist with general repairs to include:
    • Tire review and replacement
    • Engine, drivetrain, brakes and suspension systems
    • Annual DOT inspections
    • Preventive maintenance/oil change and lube
    • Electrical troubleshooting and repairs
    • SCR/DPF systems
    • Laptop diagnoses utilizing various diagnostic software common to industry
    • AC systems
    • Trailer and lift gate repairs- dry van
    • Tanker components-pumps, valves, etc
  • Assist with ordering parts inventory and maintaining stock
  • Communicate daily with coworkers and Transportation Manager
  • Upkeep of shop equipment and general housekeeping
  • Adhere to company policies, standards and safety guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Transportation Manager (and/or Senior Mechanic)

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of shop equipment
  • One or more years working in a heavy truck/trailer environment
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to take direction and desire to learn
  • Deadline and detail oriented
  • Work in a safe manner at all times
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Possess general computer skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Dependable, on-time, and possess strong work ethic
